Supreme revived by Tiffany & Co.
On Saturday, Supreme posted a teaser video to their Instagram page announcing a collaboration with the famous jewelry company. After a slew of disappointing drops, many are excited for this refreshing change of pace in terms of hype and, hopefully, secondary market demand. Leaks page dropsbyjay has confirmed a box logo tee, necklaces, bracelets, and earrings will be released, among other accessories, on Thursday, November 11th, both in-store and online. Will this collaboration mark the end of Supreme’s dry spell?
Crypto all-time high
In this bearish market, cryptocurrencies have seen unprecedented gains day to day, week to week, and month to month. This week was no different when Ethereum reached prices above $4,668 for the first time. Even though Bitcoin reached its all-time high last month, its price has hovered around and above $60,000 consistently. For early investors or those who bought the dip a short while back, their investments are certainly paying off. However, it is still uncertain how long these sky-high prices will last.
Bot market troubles
While it has been evident that secondary market bot prices have been suffering in the last few months, this last week was an even more intensified expression of this trend. Cybersole had a record low sale of $799 for a renewal copy on Saturday. WrathAIO, one of the best price retaining bots in the last year, has had a couple of sales around $2500, almost $5000 less than sales only a month and a half prior. A combination of bot flippers exiting, drops being scarce, and anti-bot protection becoming more difficult has led to these peculiar market conditions.
Sneaky retailer tricks
In an attempt to deter botters and put consoles in the hands of more “regular” consumers, Walmart made some changes to their online console release process. Walmart is now offering priority access to console purchases for Walmart Plus subscribers, a service similar to Amazon Prime for $12.95 a month. All the allocated stock has been selling out before the general sale period, forcing botters and manual users to buy a subscription (or multiple subscriptions) to score a device. It looks like Walmart will be the clear winner here with an extreme uptick in subscriptions, many of which people will probably forget to cancel.
NFT party?
The golden crown NFT Bored Ape Yacht Club held a three-day party event duly named APE FEST from Halloween through November 2nd. Funded by NFT owners and investors, the weekend included galleries of NFTs, music, drinks, food, arcade machines, and more. With so much demand, access to the warehouse party required a wristband in order to prevent overcrowding and a potentially dangerous situation. A variety of groups hosted smaller spin-off events around New York City. Maybe other NFT projects will follow suit and bring more of these digital creations into the physical world.
Union LA returns
The retailer is known for producing some of the most sought-after sneaker collaborations with Nike in recent times. Prior hype releases include the Union Air Jordan 1 and Air Jordan 4, which have performed exceptionally well on the secondary market. Official images of a Jordan 2 collaboration have leaked, set for a release sometime before the end of the year. It is unclear whether this less popular model will have the same smashing success as its predecessors.
This next week console restocks across all the major big-box retailers are expected, along with a Yeezy Supply release on Friday. Also, don’t forget to keep an eye on the Supreme release this week, especially if you can attend in-store.
