NFTs, music, cyber attacks, and more. Let’s dive in.

OpenSea Exploit

On Saturday, over 254 NFTs were stolen from OpenSea users. Some of the tokens included notable (and expensive) projects like Decentraland and Bored Ape Yacht Club. A total of 32 users were victims of the attack, losing an estimated $1.7 million in value. The attack required targets to partially sign a smart contract, where the malicious actor filled in the rest of the “blank spaces” to execute transfers without payment. OpenSea is still investigating the situation, but claims the attack did not originate from the OpenSea website or emails.

Amazon Prime Price Increase

Amazon has raised the price of its flagship subscription membership, Amazon Prime, from $119 to $139 annually. Amazon justified the price increase with new member benefits: from Amazon’s catalog of original content to same-day shipping services and more.

Kanye West Stem Player

Mr. West is famously known for his social media rants and stunts that send shockwaves through the music industry and pop culture. In spite of music streaming services, Kanye announced on his Instagram that his latest album, Donda 2, will only be available on his proprietary Stem Player device. The unit, retailing for $200, allows users to manipulate parts of the song using touch-sensitive sliders. Ye has reportedly sold ~$9.5 million in Stem Players since their August 2021 launch.

Trump Social Media App

The former president is planning to launch his very own social media network on Monday, February 21st. The launch of Truth Social, which oddly coincides with Presidents Day 🤔, comes after 3 months of beta testing with select users. With features like direct messaging and user verification coming soon, the app will work quite similar to Twitter.

Nike Dunk Low Reverse Kentucky

New leaked images revealed the latest release in Nike’s school themed dunks. The shoe is an inverted version of the classic Kentucky Blue Dunk, swapping all of the blue for white and white for blue throughout the silhouette. Nike hasn’t announced an official release date, but rumors suggest the pair will release sometime in 2022.

Stranger Things Season 4

Following its original release in the summer of 2016, Stranger Things, a Netflix original series, has become an overnight sensation. After a two year wait, the fourth (and second to last) season will premiere in two parts this summer. Volume one will be released on May 27th, with Volume two following five weeks later on July 1st. Very little information, aside from several ambiguous trailers, has leaked about the new season.

Fun fact: The 57 on Heinz ketchup bottles represents the number of varieties of pickles the company once had.
